Housewarming/Carly’s 2nd Birthday Party
Carly turned 2 in May! That month also marked six months in our new house, so we decided to throw a joint housewarming/Carly’s 2nd birthday party. It was fun!
When planning a party, the dessert table is always first on my mind. Probably because I love desserts and they’re never far from my mind. For this table, I went with an outdoorsy theme – wood slices, tree trunks, burlap, and mason jars. The idea for the wood slice backdrop came from here – I love how it turned out (even if several of the wood slices fell off)!
Desserts included sugar cookies, vanilla cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate chip cookies, and a Tunnel of Fudge Bundt cake.
We told everyone they were welcome to come anytime after 3pm, and we would grill burgers and hot dogs around 6pm. That meant that I needed to have some appetizers for everyone to snack on. I used the dessert stands that Andy made last year to hold cheese plates which also included fruit (apples and grapes), crackers, baguettes, and a delicious honeycomb. We also had popcorn, nuts, tortellini pasta salad, chicken salad, chips, corn salsa, salsa, and guacamole. I could not stop eating everything!
Carly was excited about the cake!
I think should could’ve gotten a little closer when blowing out the candles!
She sure did love the cake. But not the mess that she made with it!
For fun, the kids jumped on the trampoline, played on the playset, went ziplining, and played giant Jenga. It was a great day celebrating our little girl and our new home!
